With a low input lag of just 16ms, the TH585 is ideal for smooth gameplay. A faster response makes you quicker to the draw in shoot ‘em ups and able to ace that personal best in a race. The special Game Mode takes the TH585 one-step further in making this the gamers’ choice of projector. Enhancing dark and shadowy areas, it helps you spot enemies and hidden treasure.
Easy set-up
Thanks to 1.1x zoom, digital lens shift and auto vertical keystone, it’s easy to get just the right image. These technologies mean that the image isn’t just perfectly sized but that it’s also perfectly aligned and cropped.
Flexible inputs
Featuring twin HDMI inputs plus a VGA PC socket, you can connect up to three devices – perfect for a games console, Blu-ray player and PC. A USB interface powers an optional media device, such as a Smart TV stick or BenQ’s optional QCast Mirror stick.

Great Quaility
Great quality picture at night. Useable through the day but not as vivid image. Easy to set up!
Fan noise a little bit loud but just an excuse to turn the surround sound up a bit louder.

Excellent pictures in daylight and night
Bought this 2 weeks ago. Loving the experience of home cinema. Very bright projector. 4 star because no horizontal keystone adjust and little noisy for the price but I should have noticed in all fairness.

Good but flawed projector
I purchased this as a replacemnt for a much older Infocus HD projector which developed a fault. I already own an older Benq 1070 which is OK and was good value. The Benq TH585 is also good value but the image, although bright with good colours is not perfect. The deep blacks/shadows are not well detailed at all and although dark seem like dark blobs. At this price level I don't expect extreme shadow detail but the blacks do sometimes dominate. I use the projector on cinema setting for watching blurays. The main problem is light splash/spill. The projector shines light outside the HD image both horizontally and vertically. This can be seen outside my projection screen black boundary. My other projectors did not do this. Overall the image for films is watchable and there is only occasional noticable motion judder.The fan noise is not intrusive when watching a film. I am sure that the projector would be better for games as this is its main design aim. All this having been said there is not much at all at this price level which is any good. If I had been able to view the projector prior to purchase I would probably have gone for a more expensive option which gives a better performance.The projector was not availble in store to view (not stocked in store) and the Richer sounds sales assistant that I spoke to had never seen one in operation so I was buying blind.
So the Benq TH585 is a decent product but be aware of its limitations.

Tremendous straight out the box
Set up and working with a fantastic picture within 10 minutes and that included fixing a retractable screen to the wall. Very impressed.

Benq TH585
Bought this online with option to deliver to store (Hanley). Projector arrived promptly and as ever the staff at RS were great (as expected). Iv had a W1070 for about 7 years now in the main room and fancied a gaming projector in the study - given the quality of my 1070, I had no hesitation in buying the well reviewed 585 - set up was a doddle and iv got an 80 inch screen from about 8.5 feet throw. What I have noticed is the brightness of this compared to the W1070 - wow - I'm on lamp save mode (apparently can give 14000 lamp life hours) and its still plenty bright enough in the day with the blinds closed - iv hopefully attached two images showing a bright day with blinds closed and open (and one with normal lamp mode with blind open) Gaming is superb and fan noise levels are I guess similar to my other Benq, which once the 5.1 is on, I never really notice. So its a definite two thumbs up from me and hopefully I shouldn't have to replace the lamp for many a year :)

Fantastic projector in price bracket
Hi purchased through Richer Sounds Watford very Friendly service and good knowledge
The BenQ Th585 is amazing for the money very bright in reasonable light and the picture quality is great
The only criticism is the speaker is not too loud but run it through a sound bar and it’s just like. The garden Cinema it is used for I have a 120” screen and at 4m it filled the screen nicely love the functionality of it the picture adjustment, Display Function or 2x user presets then Bright, Sport, Game etc etc but all very easy to navigate
The only other thing that is slightly annoying is the ceiling mounts you only have 3 holes that can be difficult with a 4 mount bracket but with a bit of clever manipulation this can be overcome
But over all a really good buy.
