World famous Uni-Q technology for a natural sound stage
The KEF Q550 uses a famous KEF technology to great effect, with the Uni-Q drive unit. This involves positioning the treble unit in the middle of the woofer, creating a single point source for sound across the frequency range. The end result of this is a broader, more cohesive sound that offers excellent stereo within a wider listening area.
Improved treble
A new damped loading system greatly reduces distortion, giving a smoother, more detailed top-end. The "tangerine" wave guide system helps the treble integrate more smoothly with the mid-range. Another improvement with the Q550 is the sealed top compartment - meaning that treble and mid-range aren't affected by the air movements from the bass units.
Aluminium woofer cone with Z-Flex surround for low distortion
Made from lightweight yet rigid aluminium, the woofer units are fast to respond and linear in their response. This helps give life-like dynamics and low levels of distortion. Using technologies developed in their high-end Concept Blade speakers, the Q550 offers attention to detail not usually seen in speakers at this level. The Z-Flex woofer surround gives superior cone control, helping it blend seamlessly with the treble unit for a more even and consistent sound.
Extra woofer and twin ABRs for bass boost
Within its elegant floorstanding cabinet the Q550 house no fewer than three additional bass woofers. One of these is powered and is dedicated entirely to bass below the mid-range unit. Working rather like a subwoofer, this enables the Q550 to offer consistent and reliable bass that's both deep and sustained. Improving this further, twin ABRs (Auxcillary Bass Radiators) utilise energy within the cabinet to further enhance and sustain the bass response.
Plinth included for enhanced stability
Coming complete with bolt-on plinths, the Q550 offer excellent stability. The design stretches out the spikes to give the highest level of stability possible from such a slender speaker. This has the effect of reducing distortion as the cabinet is more likely to stay in position and not 'rock' with louder music. Yet another great piece of attention to detail is that the spikes are also effortlessly adjustable from above - saving time and hassle when it comes to setting up.

Pure satisfaction!
Q550... my best choice ever!
I’ve decided to buy them in white colour, as the most of my living room is white.
They blend in beautifully with other furniture.
Due to the fact that they are the smallest speakers in their series, at 19 square meters they are sufficient and sound fantastic.
They are perfect for all types of music, from classical music to heavy metal.
The treble is not withdrawn and it sounds very good against the background of the medium and low frequencies.
The vocals are not exaggerated and everything is complemented by a very well controlled bass.
The closed design allows speakers to be placed close to the wall without changing their sound.
Purchase was fabulous!

Sound as good as they look
I demoed these against Monitor Audio Silver 8s and Dali Opticon 6s and as soon as I heard them I was convinced they were up to the job I needed them for, which is detail and depth at relatively low volume. They came immaculately packaged and were easy to set up/level, and appear to be very well constructed indeed.
I bought the Q550s in white and they complement the room in which they are installed. I also they will look good in any room.

I have owned these speakers for about 3 weeks and they are awesome speakers. Rich full sound- bass, mid range and treble all perfectly balanced.

Great looking and sounding
My girlfriend bought me these just before Xmas so only had for 5 days of listening but already VERY impressed. The clarity and depth of sound are superb and they look immense, the best looking modern speakers on the market, in my opinion. They arrived extremely well boxed and simple to put together! I'm using an AV receiver and a separate subwoofer, so not sure what the bass levels are like at the moment. Definitely the best present i've ever been bought!!
