When it comes to bringing cinema technology to your home, Onkyo have always been amongst the leaders. Way back in 1993, they were the first brand to be THX-certified and were key players in bringing Dolby Digital, Dolby Atmos and DTS:X to a wider audience. With the TX-RZ70, however, it’s not just the cinema that provides inspiration, but the studio, too. The high current, low noise power transformer is massively over-specified for most domestic needs and goes on to feed top quality electronics, such as pro-quality ESS Sabre DACs (Digital to Analogue Convertors).

Making sure that this Onkyo has the power to do justice to its precision processing, the TX-RZ70 has power to spare. With 11 channels, each with 140 watts power, this is amongst the most powerful AVRs about. It’s also highly configurable, meaning that you can decide precisely how that mighty power is to be used…
Choose your speaker configuration
For reference grade cinema sound, the TX-RZ70 is configured with 7 surround sound speakers, two active subwoofers and 4 in-ceiling speakers, giving you an awesome 7.2.4 speaker system. But that’s not the only choice. Use the 11 powered channels to bi-amp your main speakers, run stereo speakers in another room, or even another two rooms – the choice is yours.
Dirac Live
Thanks to state-of-the-art digital room correction from Dirac, the TX-RZ70 offers pro-level room optimisation. Dirac live uses a USB microphone (not included) and dedicated PC software to take multiple readings around your room and feed the information back to the amplifier for a completely bespoke response (professional set-up recommended). Dirac Live Bass Control takes this to the next level, with single or twin subwoofer calibration for optimal response from the lowest tones.
THX Certification Select2 – your guarantee of cinematic sound
THX Certification Select2 means that the TX-RZ70 meets the tough standards set by THX for high-volume, low-distortion sound. Awarded to only the finest AV receivers, the TXRZ70’s powerful and dynamic sound delivers a truly cinematic thrill.
Wide range of cinematic formats – from IMAX to Atmos
Just as you’d expect from a flagship AVR, the Onkyo TX-RZ70 has all the major surround sound formats covered. Compatible formats include IMAX Enhanced, Dolby Atmos, DTS:X, DTS Neural:X and Auro-3D. This wide range of options means you can adapt your surround sound speaker system from the simplest system with ‘virtual height’ speakers to full-blown 7.2.4 system that truly brings the cinema to your front room.
Klipsch Optimise Mode
Unique to Onkyo, the TX-RZ70 sounds even better when partnered with Klipsch Reference and Reference Premiere speakers. Collaboration between the two companies has resulted in the implementation of precise crossover values being incorporated into the Onkyo. This means that you get optimised sound quality, at the touch of a button.
8K and 4K/120Hz compatible HDMI interface
With all HDMIs (except the front input and Zone 2 output) supporting 8K and 4K/120Hz, this is the ideal AVR for your 8K TV and the latest gaming devices. This gives you a total of six compatible HDMI inputs and two outputs. The TX-RZ70 also supports the latest copy protection standard, HDCP 2.3.
Stream it your way, with Apple AirPlay 2 and Works with Sonos
Much more than just an AV receiver, the TX-RZ70 is also a comprehensive music streamer. Apple AirPlay 2 is standard as is ‘Works with Sonos’. Integrated Amazon Music, Spotify (Premium account required for full features), TIDAL and Deezer are available, too. There’s also Chromecast, DTS Play-Fi, TuneIn for Internet radio and Bluetooth music streaming.

Works with Sonos certification means that this Onkyo seamlessly integrates with your existing Sonos system. Once connected to a compatible Sonos product (Sonos Port), you can group the receiver with other Sonos devices or use it independently. Working with Sonos means as soon as you start playing music from your Sonos app, the Onkyo switches on and automatically selects the correct input.
Voice control via Alexa, Google Assistant and Siri devices
For the latest in smart home tech, Onkyo have made the TX-RZ70 compatible with Amazon Alexa, Google Assistant and Siri devices. Simply connect your compatible device and then just ask Alexa or the Google Assistant to perform basic functions. Using the Apple Home App, Siri voice control from your Apple iOS device brings added functionality over AirPlay 2 – including grouping devices.
DTS Play-Fi for effortless streaming and multi-room
DTS Play-Fi is a premium, wireless control system that brings everything under one 'roof'.
