Sony HTZF9 (Black)
3.1ch Dolby Atmos Soundbar & Subwoofer
£449 Our price history: £499 from 18/04/22 to 16/07/22
3.1 channel system with Dolby Atmos and DTS:X compatibility
Using Sony’s Vertical Surround Engine and just three front speaker drivers, the Sony HT-ZF9 reproduces ‘vertical’ audio to give truly uplifting sound! Compatible with both Dolby Atmos and DTS:X formats, this Sony soundbar gives incredibly immersive sound from a compact unit. Because this speaker doesn’t fire sound directly upwards, it doesn’t matter how high or what shape your ceiling is, making it truly room-friendly.
Upscale to 7.1.2 for ‘wrap around’ sound
Thanks to its sophisticated processing, upward firing speakers and separate subwoofer, the Sony HT-ZF9 gives a totally immersive sound – all from just two boxes. At the touch of a button, Sony’s advanced signal processing converts any audio signal into a pseudo 7.1.2 channel signal – totally surrounding you.
Dedicated, wireless subwoofer to focus on the bass
A separate subwoofer frees up the soundbar from the compromise of doing two jobs at once. Instead, it remains dedicated to the task of producing a holographic, 3D sound, leaving the subwoofer free to provide deep, cinema-like bass. What's more, with it being a wireless subwoofer you're free to position it anywhere within the room without the hassle of a connection wire between it and the soundbar.
Sound modes tailored to your viewing
No fewer than five tailored sound modes optimise the audio to whatever you’re watching. Cinema mode maximises the thrills and spills from action movies. Developed by PlayStation, Game studio mode gets the most from gaming. Sports mode makes you feel like you’re ‘there’ and part of the crowd while news mode is designed for the clearest dialogue. For the most detailed sound, switch to Music mode.
Hi-Res sound and DSEE HX enhancement
Compatibility with Hi-Res sound gives you ‘better than CD sound’ from high resolution music files. Stream over Wi-Fi or connect via USB and enjoy the highest sound quality from your DSD, FLAC and WAV files. DSEE HX Digital Sound Enhancement Engine upscales your existing music to near Hi-Res quality, squeezing out every last drop of sound.
Google Chromecast built-in
Chromecast lets you stream music, podcasts and audio apps, including Google Play, at the touch of a button. Having it built-in saves the battery life on your phone as the phone's Bluetooth transmission system isn't used for this purpose. Being able to stream straight from the cloud also gives the best audio quality.
Stream your music with wireless Bluetooth and Wi-Fi
More than just a boost for your TV sound, the Sony HT-ZF9 soundbar also makes a handy speaker for your music. Pair with your smartphone, tablet or computer and you'll be able to stream all your stored music and favourite streaming services such as Spotify, Deezer and Apple Music. Networking is further enhanced by Wi-Fi connectivity. As well as Chromecast this gives access to Google Assistant, Spotify Connect and DLNA streaming (Spotify and DLNA via future firmware update).
HDR10, Dolby Vision and HLG compatible HDMI interface
Fitted with two HDMI inputs and one output, the HTZF9 is ideal for connecting a UHD Blu-ray player and games console or UHD TV streamer. Better still, the HDMI sockets are compatible with HDR10, Dolby Vision and HLG (Hybrid Log Gamma) formats, meaning that the latest UHD formats are all covered. Other inputs include an optical digital input, USB and 3.5mm mini-jack for your music sources.
Take your listening experience to new heights, with the Sony HT-ZF9.

Rated 4 out of 5 by ZIA83 from Sony Soundbar Had this for about 3 weeks. Happy with the product. Wasn't sure at first (went over my initial budget). The more I watch stuff, the more I appreciate the quality. Not 5 * as I've only had it for a short while. No regrets so far.

Rated 1 out of 5 by Joey707 from A Nightmare The sound is a disappointing soundbar, it is inconsistent, and it is a nightmare to attach the ARC/HDMI cables at the back to the lack of space at the back, you cannot get your hand into the compartment where the sockets are placed. I have a top model Sony TV, DVD Player, along with this soundbar. and I will never buy Sony again. After two years ARC socket has become very loose and causes interference, so I can no longer use it. The soundbar is poorly designed, the instructions are inadequate and their website is not much better. They assume everyone is an expert and in my case, I use a set-top box as well, but finding out the correct way to connect all the items to each other is a joke. The worst thing of all is the cost of all these items, you don't! always get what you pay for and Sony has proved that.

Rated 3 out of 5 by Davehall23 from Lacking available rear speakers I bought these just over a week ago and was advised that I could add wireless spaekers. I then found that there were none available and so I am left with a sound bar and subwoofer but I am not able to add rear spekers to them

Rated 4 out of 5 by Radgegadge from Quite loud Had this sound bar a few months now .easy to set up and connect multiple devices .the sound is good quality nice and soft and not too piercing.which is probably why it has no tweeters ,though having no tweeters sound gets muddled up a bit now and then .good buy though overall for midrange equipment.

Rated 5 out of 5 by G333 from Great product I bought the Soundbar about 3 months ago, the sound quality is truly excellent. I have one major concern however, as I didn’t purchase the dedicated rear speakers at the same time thinking that I would add them later I now find that theses are now unavailable in the UK. All attempts through Sony or other sources to locate the HTZ F9 rear speakers have failed, I now cannot enjoy the system to its full capabilities - very disappointed! Sony, please reinstate the HTZ F9 rear speakers or provide a compatible alternative.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Madscot from Great amount of features I bought this a couple of weeks ago as I moved house and have had to down-size my surround sound set-up, the fact it had two hdmi inputs was a big factor in my choice to replace my Sony AV receiver, it meant I could connect my 4k blu ray player and firestick directly to the soundbar for dolby atmos sound, my tv only has arc and it doesnt do atmos, you need earc for atmos so this is perfect for me, being honest moving from 7 speakers and a sub to a soundbar is going to be a bit of a comedown, I love my surround sound music and the soundbar sounds great with music since it seems made for hi-res audio, the only downside is there's no discrete sounds coming from all corners of the room, when watching movies it sounds as good as it could without being fully immersive, the atmos feature is good but not great compared to proper atmos speakers, all in all i’m not sure I could have chosen a better soundbar without spending a small fortune

Rated 5 out of 5 by Dedeem54 from Connectivity without limits I bought this two weeks ago and I am very happy with my purchase. Connectivity is at the top. Dialogs very easier to understand while watching TV. On the other side, spatialization is not very present and it could not read .wma files bought from Qobuz. Video play with Chromecast would have been a plus. In the whole, a very nice purchase.
