Designed to be paired with the Classic POWER or Stereo 200 power amplifiers, the Cyrus Classic PRE plays a vital role in getting the very best from your Cyrus system. Because the pre-amplifier section has a dedicated power supply and sits in its own casing, the sound quality is much improved over the integrated Cyrus amps. All the digital and analogue connectivity that makes these amps so popular is still present and correct, making the Classic PRE every bit as system friendly.

For the best possible sound, the Classic PRE offers balanced XLR outputs. Compatible with the Classic POWER and Stereo 200, XLRs deliver a studio-grade connection. Balanced cables offer better shielding and a more stable signal, especially over longer distances, letting you hear every detail that the Classic PRE is capable of.

Built-in DAC with coaxial and optical inputs
Two optical and two coaxial digital inputs let you connect up to four digital sources and take advantage of the high quality DAC. The DAC chip is the same as that fitted to the award-winning QXR DAC, making this an ace with digital conversion. Plug in your TV, games console, CD player and more, with this flexible amp.

High quality turntable input
As well as four RCA line inputs, the Classic PRE also comes equipped with a MM (Moving Magnet) turntable input. This design features dual active gain stages and passive RIAA equalisation for high resolution, low distortion sound.

Wide range of other connectivity
For such a compact unit, the Classic PRE packs a lot in. As well as the raft of digital and analogue inputs, the amp also has a headphone output, pre-amp outs (balanced and RCA), recording loop and linking ports for connecting other Cyrus units and upgrading the power supply.

Upgrade with a PSX-R
Like other Cyrus products, the Classic PRE offers a clear upgrade path. Even though it already has excellent sound, it can easily be improved. By adding Cyrus's famous PSX-R power supply, the Classic PRE benefits from the PSX-R’s ultra-low noise power supply. Feeding separate power signals to the amp’s analogue and digital stages you get a cleaner sound with improved definition and reduced distortion.
