Magnetic suspended design for maximum isolation
The Pro-Ject 6 Perspex SB uses a suspended chassis for the ultimate in isolation. Where this design differs from other designs, though, is in the use of magnetic suspension rather than the more traditional springs. For the ultimate in rigidity and damping, the sub-chassis is made from Corian.
Acrylic plinth
Featuring a smart Acrylic plinth, the 6 Perspex SB not only looks good, it also offers excellent damping and anti-resonance properties; ensuring low distortion and excellent sonic detail. The plinth is fitted with height adjustable, aluminium cone feet. These too feature isolation pads, further reducing the chance of mechanical interference. Finally, a spirit level is also included, ensuring the whole chassis can easily be levelled.
Resonance optimised platter
The unique platter fitted to the 6 Perspex uses a special sandwich construction. With a layer of MDF at its base, topped by a 4mm layer of ground vinyl, this gives your record the perfect mechanical interface with the platter. To aid dynamics and detail, a screw down clamp is also fitted as standard.
Ceramic bearing for low resistance and long life
In addition to the suspended chassis, the 6 Perspex SB offers another audiophile feature; ceramic bearings. The inverted bearing uses a stainless-steel axle carrying a ceramic ball on which the ceramic bearing plate runs. This choice of material gives an enviable combination of very low friction with longevity.
9CC Evolution carbon-fibre tonearm
The Evolution version of the famous 9CC carbon-fibre tonearm is a delight to behold. Highlights of this substantially enhanced tonearm include a massively oversized outer ring and Sorbothane damped counterweights. The oversized outer ring is open to avoid resonance yet also very rigid to provide the most stable platform for the arm to work from. The damped counter weights effectively counteract unwanted resonance. As ever, a carbon-fibre tonearm tube provides significant benefits to the sound quality. Being stiffer than steel, the tonearm is more rigid than usual. This helps convey the music more accurately as there's also reduced arm resonance. In short, the music sounds tighter, punchier and more detailed than before.
Superbly engineered and with the sound quality to show for it, the Pro-Ject 6 Perspex SB is a class-leader.
