Servo Evolution for data precision
Cyrus SE (Servo Evolution) technology is a bespoke system reads CD data far more accurately than most CD players. It’s this dedicated approach that gives the CDi-XR its incredibly precise and revealing sound quality. If you thought you’d heard the limits of Compact Disc, you might just be surprised by how much further the CDi-XR takes it.
DAC optimised for CD
Combining a top quality Sabre DAC with a high-speed analogue stage helps give the CDi-XR excellent dynamic range and very low levels of distortion. Cyrus optimise the sound of the QXR DAC to 16 bit/44.1 kHz, which is exactly the response of Compact Disc and not other digital formats. This means you get the very best performance from your CDs, without other digital formats to worry about.
Short signal path and low jitter clock for the greatest detail
Thanks to its labour intensive engineering, the CDi-XR extracts an incredible level of detail from CD. A key factor in this is the ‘flow and return’ circuit design, with signal paths kept as short as possible. A re-clocking circuit keeps jitter as low as possible – helping to make the sound smoother and more natural.
PSU-XR port for the next step-up
As good as the CDi-XR is, it can be made better still by adding a PSU-XR power supply. Over the past three decades, Cyrus’s famous PSX power supplies have been a ‘must have’ upgrade, and the latest PSU-XR is no different. Adding a PSU-XR provides four separate power supplies. Two are dedicated to the analogue audio circuitry (left and right), one for the motors and one for the master clock – helping to reduce jitter even further.

Now with a new Phantom Black finish and touch sensitive controls, the CDi-XR’s style is better than ever. The die-cast casing is extremely solid and strongly resists both electrical and mechanical interference from surrounding sources. full deep sound with great clarity

Great player (I think!)
Only had this player for a short time but already it is showing its class. The instructions indicate that three solid days of playing will be needed for optimum performance to be reached. Initially I was a little underwhelmed. The Cyrus was only marginally better than my ancient Marantz player but even after playing a couple of CDs hints of the real sound came through. Tellingly, my wife kept quiet initially but made some very favourable comments as the sound improved. I have every expectation that, with time, this machine will justify its hefty price tag. I have already bought some more discs and am enjoying working my way through my collection. My little Cyrus is starting to match even beat my trusty Thorens/SME/Sure turntable combination. I think I have chosen well. As a last comment, Richer Sounds Hanley were more than a little helpful with my telephone order.

Great features and sound. What more can I say
This was a replacement for an ageing Cyrus CD8 and the improvement in sound quality is amazing. From past experience, I shall await the addition of the offboard PSU.

Everything sounds better on the CDi-XR
I had my doubts about spending so much on a CD player, but now I'm convinced it was worth every penny. I am working my way through my entire CD collections, because everything sounds so much better.

It's the quality of the sound
I have now had the Cyrus cdi xr for ten days, previously had the Cyrus cdi an amazing player, would this be any better, hard to see how, what disc should I play first? I picked Brussels Philharmonic Ryuichi Sakamoto, music for film, starting with Merry Christmas Mr. Lawrence, I had never heard it like this before, those opening piano notes so pure new sharpness to violins, a very rich sound to cellos , fantastic reproduction of the base drum, then I picked BBC Philharmonic recording of Bruchners 6th symphony, I'd heard them play it live, I was there again at the concert, same with Beverley Cravens Woman to Woman live CD I was reliving the concert. The magicians at Cyrus have done it again another step forward in extracting even more from a CD , a player you buy to hear music as if you were there when it was recorded.

I’ve always been a fan of Cyrus products. The new cd certainly didn’t disappoint. Outstanding but has now got me wanting to update my amplifier.

Great Service, Good Price, Fantastic Sound
Bought in Guildford. Picked three CD players to listen to, with a couple of speaker combinations.
Tayla had everything all set up in the demo room and was knowledgeable and pateint with me trying the same various tracks with each combination. The Cyrus CD players had so much more detail than the other I demoed. It was close between the CDi and the CDi-XR as quite a big jump in price. However, to my ears the CDi-XR had a more dynamic sound in addition to the detail which swung it for me. And as ususal Richer sounds are keen on price. Highly recommended
