Standing at the top of Monitor Audio’s impressive speaker range, the Platinum is their magnum opus. Everything that Monitor Audio has developed over many decades of speaker manufacturing is refined to the highest standards, making the Platinum range a true reference from which to judge others.
Versatile design
Using a rotating high/mid-range array, this in-wall speaker is easily optimised for vertical or horizontal installations. The rotating array means the speakers can be used in LCR (Left/Centre/Right) applications, without compromising the sound.
3-way design and high power handling for full-range dynamics
Although best used with a subwoofer for the ultimate movie dynamics, the 3-way design makes this a genuine full-range design. Dedicated twin bass units give a powerful sound, right down to 52Hz - about the same as a small floorstanding speaker. With a power rating of 200 watts, the Platinum In-Wall II matches the mightiest AV receivers and installation amps.
Ultimate top-end performance
Designed especially for the Platinum range, the Platinum In-Wall II features a MPD (Micro Pleated Diaphragm) tweeter. Working by squeezing the pleats, like a super-fast accordion, gives the treble a sensational response – right up to a class-leading 100,000Hz. What this means is you get totally uncompressed harmonics for a spacious and life-like top-end performance. If it’s in the recording, this speaker plays it.
Dedicated midrange for crisp dialogue
Just like the reference Platinum PL300 II speakers, the Platinum In-Wall II’s feature a drive unit dedicated to the midrange. With aluminium front and carbon fibre rear, sandwiching a Nomex honeycomb structure, the midrange driver delivers perfect motion and the lowest levels of distortion. What this means is vocals sound so realistic that they could be in the room with you – ideal when used as a centre speaker.
Twin bass units for spacious dynamics
Although ‘only’ an in-wall speaker, this Platinum speaker has the power to match the most intense soundtracks. Featuring underhung, edge-wound voice coils improves the thermal efficiency allowing for unsurpassed dynamics. This means dynamic, powerful bass, without the distortion that can afflict other speakers – especially at higher volumes. Twin, long-throw woofers mean that the bass response is widely disbursed.
Discrete, low-profile design
Despite its enveloping, reference-grade sound this Platinum is a highly discreet wall speaker. The unique Tri-Grip fixing system is not only easy to install but also offers a superior fit, compared to conventional clamping systems. The magnetically attached grille is finished in white but can also be painted in your choice of colour to match your decor.
