Rated 4 out of 5 by rayjt9 from A Mixed Experience [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] When I first got my Freestyle, I pointed it at a wall and turned it on. I was met with a bright green square and nothing else. After waiting for a few minutes to see if anything would happen, I unplugged it and plugged it back in, and I was finally greeted by the correct screen which guided me through the quick and easy setup process, and I was able to get to watching content within a couple of minutes. Kudos to Samsung for this, getting set up was a great experience. The controller is easy to navigate with and it all seems streamlined. The auto-keystone feature worked well too, meaning that wherever I pointed it, the image would align to show a perfectly straight-on rectangular picture. And what an picture! It's sharp, has decent contrast and is crystal clear - in dark rooms at least - this isn't the brightest projector and definitely not one which can be used with the lights on. My favorite thing about the image is that the colors REALLY pop, which makes watching oversaturated shows like cartoons or animated movies an absolute joy. The Freestyle is surprisingly light, with a gorgeous form factor which won't look out of place sitting out on full display (and even in the protective case it still manages to be portable.) It's easy to find a good display angle to work in most rooms, however I did have an issue where the stand couldn't support certain angles, and the freestyle would start to tilt over time, resulting in the projected image often moving away from where you want it. Another thing Samsung gets right is the audio quality. I'm no expert, but the sound quality from this thing is nothing short of impressive, with high peak volume and extremely clear tones across the board. The coolest thing about the Freestyle in my experience, however, is the SmartThings app. This app allows you to share content from your Android or iOS device directly to the Freestyle - I had a great time mirroring my iPad and playing games on the big screen on the first night I got it. That first night was an amazing experience, but unfortunately was the only night I could get it to work. Every time I've tried to start the Freestyle since, I get the same green square I got the first time I started it. I do wonder if I received a faulty unit by mistake, as the box arrived opened and the device was pre-scratched on the black part of the glass. This unfortunately did sour the review process a bit, but what I did get to experience prior was very good.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Kellyhox from Love it but a few teething problems [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We loved this product as soon as we received it, the self levelling was great. But within a few weeks we started having problems and now it seems to tilt slightly to the left. The autocorrection isn't great, we have to manually correct it sometimes even when it is on a blank large wall. I am however very impressed with picture quality, it is like having a home cinema in a dark bedroom. And the speaker quality is better than I thought, although obviously a much better experience when hooked upto a Bluetooth soundboard.

Rated 1 out of 5 by Stevents from Avoid… for now. Something that annoys me about this projector is that when I switch it on, the image sometimes doesn’t appear, so I have to switch it off and on again. It also happens when I launch Netflix. From time to time, it switches off automatically, which I have no idea why. The IPTV smarters app doesn’t load. Also, if you are in the UK and have NOW TV, you won’t be able to sream the content via The Freestyle. The sound is not great. The device gets pretty hot, and the fan is quite noisy. My other Samsung has the solar TV remote, and The Freestyle doesn’t. It comes with a white remote control that is very slow. I honestly have to use the SmartThings app because the remote is not great. My honest advise is to wait until this product gets a redesign.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Yoohoo12345 from Packed with a punch! The Freestyle is a neat bit of kit for all the tech enthusiasts out there. The compact, small, portable, smart projector can be put to use in any location of your home or garden and can even be used when away from home. We found it really useful following recipes while projecting it onto the wall and also using it as a secondary device for my daughter who wanted to watch videos on Youtube while my husband was watching a football game! Having only ever had a single TV in our home, this was a game changer for us and enabled us all to be in the same room as each other but be on different devices. Features I loved were how the projector tilted so easily, the speaker quality was pretty awesome and we had access to more channels and apps than on our own TV! The only negative comments I have are that during the day, our kitchen/ diner is very well lit and the picture quality in that lighting wasn’t great so it can’t really be used as a alternative to a TV for that reason. The price point is also very high. Overall, this was a nifty bit of kit and I really enjoyed The Freestyle!

Rated 3 out of 5 by simonha11 from Must try Harder [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The setup for this unit was effortless and the on screen instructions were clear. The navigation from the remote is a bit clunky and quite frustrating, though I got there in the end. The packaging is pretty but quite impractical as the removal of the unit is a bit like opening a cryptic box. The carry case is impractical as though the projector can sit in it there is no provision for the cable clip (which will in due course get lost) to remain on as the carrier is badly designed so it needs taking off when storing and there is no room for the remote or cables +plug to be contained in the carrier so requiring additional baggage if using it in different locations on a regular basis. The auto correct screen is good one way around and not so good the other it is not clear to me which way around the unit should sit other than being dictated from the screen image. The clarity of the picture is excellent on a white background but not so good on a darker one... Though it is preloaded with various built in apps which can be configured. It appears to me that 3rd party apps can't be added unless I have missed something. It is also very frustrating that there is no port to put my SKY box into or indeed terrestrial Digital TV input Overall I liked the unit but think it a bit pricey considering the things it doesn't have If likely to remain in the same location it is a very good product but if needing to be moved around not so. Though the unit did update a number of times I have also been frustrated by the unit randomly shutting down and rebooting. This has happened a number of times and was replaced for me. I have not had the same issue with the replacement .....yet The cable for the unit is too short in my view 1.5m approx which necessitated me needing an extension lead to set up in some locations. The sound seemed out of sync with some of the programmes I was watching too which took some getting used to. The Samsung app was easy to set up on the mobile and worked effortlessly in fact easier to use than the remote in my opinion. Can't get my head around why there is a need for such an ugly lens cover seems to be too big and rather pointless. The screen definition is excellent though regardless of how big the screen size is made and the ability to project it almost anywhere is quite appealing.

Rated 3 out of 5 by Anonymous from Great idea but could have been so much better [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was so excited to receive this product, I really did have such high hopes. I love Samsung products and have pretty much a full house kitted out in it from Fridge Freezers to monitors, microwaves, TV's and mobile phones. So that should give you an insights into how much I wanted this product to be great. So let me just cover some of the bad points first: No integrated battery - so all of the use cases for this product for me were about portability, but without my additional battery pack it just didn't work. It feels like this should have been included. Brightness - when you use it anywhere other than a darkened room, it just wasn't bright enough for me. So I even bought a mobile projection screen to trial it outside, but I had to wait until it was so dark before I could truly enjoy it. Now don't get me wrong, with the fire on and the darkness settling in, it was a great experience but it would have been nicer to do it in the daytime. Auto adjustment: OK so this was a good and bad point. It really depended on the surface type, but I honestly found that going into the settings and manually tweaking the focus would allow me to get a clearer picture. However the convenience of the device doing it, was neat for a quick plug and play approach. Price: this is possibly one of the biggest negatives for me. The price feels excessive, lets be honest nobody "needs" this device, its a luxury item so I get it is expensive, but you could have bought a decent 50" TV, a mini projector and a decent power bank for roughly the same. So I would really struggle to justify the RRP without everything being perfect. OK now onto the good points: Portability: so if you do have a power bank that's capable of delivering the PD required 65w (which I do) it's really portable. But please see the earlier point about brightness for why this isn't always great! Setup: It was speedy and self explanatory, hardest part is logging into all of my existing streaming services on the device as I like to set unique and complex passwords for everything! Case: Nice solid case comes with it! Sound quality: It has a surprisingly good sound quality, very impressed with the range and depth of sound. The woofer handles the content well. Overall, it's the price that really takes the edge off for me. It's a good device, not great though and with it being badged at the high end of the market, I would have expected it to have been perfect. It fell short i'm afraid!

Rated 5 out of 5 by apwalshe from Such an innovative product [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Samsung Freestyle is such an innovative product, have really had a lot of fun with it from the moment it arrived. The set up could not be easier – as soon as it arrived we had it working and playing Netflix onto our living room wall. The picture quality is fantastic, the projector automatically focuses and finds the best size even if the projector is at an angle, or on an uneven surface. The projector comes in a very sturdy and compact case making it easily portable, to bring round to friends and family, and travel with.

Rated 3 out of 5 by MattyT from Oh what a feeling, we're watching on the ceiling! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] To say I was excited to test this product would be an understatement, envisioning all the ways I can use it, projecting an image onto my bedroom ceiling, summer nights watching films projected onto the side of the house, chucking the projector in my backpack or suitcase and being able to share the experience with others...this product will allow me to do all of those things but doesn't quite live up to the hype in my imagination. Out of the box the design is great. It's really compact and the included cradle stand makes it very versatile. The carry canister is a nice addition to protect the unit when transporting it (remote and power cable will just have to be chucked in the backpack alongside it!). Getting started is really as simple as plug and play. Once powered up I first tried pointing it at the ceiling and hit the first stumbling block, auto focus could not get a good lock and every couple of seconds would refocus making it unwatchable. Moving it to a more stable surface and giving the lens a quick clean with a glass cloth fixed this though. I tried it in a couple of different scenarios and when it works it's great, but quite often I needed to give it some help to get to that point. Auto focus and auto keystone when they work are a very clever and useful addition, point the projector at a surface and away you go. I did find that I needed to manually tweak the settings to get the picture I wanted when not just pointing directly at a surface. As expected from the spec sheet the projector is best used in a dark room and would be barely watchable in a bright/sunny room. When you manage to dial in all the settings and use it in the right conditions the picture is good from such a compact, versatile unit. The sound in particular is very good and surprised me. The interface is nice and clean, if a bit sluggish and the addition of streaming video apps including Samsung TV Plus is a nice touch, allowing quick and easy access to content. Being able to easily move it from room to room and throw up a large picture on the wall is one of the biggest selling points for this and using it to project a slide show of pictures from a phone worked seamlessly. It may not have lived up to the hype in my mind but I'm still enjoying using it and looking forward to putting it through its paces some more and sharing it with friends and family.

Rated 4 out of 5 by benmaggs from Great product but needs some work [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] From opening the box, the set-up process was very easy. The box was a clean simple design and the instructions were clear. The only thing lacking was a micro-HDMI convertor or cable which would have been nice to come so it’s ready to go. After the initial set up and having a look at the apps available, I put the projector straight to use, which gives a great image on many different surfaces and from almost any angle. Ensuring the room is dark enough is a major thing as in a light room its hard work on the eyes, so I would say it’s not aimed at the business market. A couple of the apps struggled to open initially but the major ones worked fine. After an update all was well apart from one. The ins built free TV channels are fantastic and there is lots to watch. The sound is great from something so small but connecting via Bluetooth to a surround system certainly improved the experience I’m sure the available apps will increase over time but there is plenty there to keep you entertained. Once the HDMI is utilised via an adapter, we were able to play video games which played very smoothly. 4K would have been nice but the image clarity is great as it is All in all, I was happy with the product and would recommend to others and I have already been asked by a close friend to borrow so they can decide if they will purchase one

Rated 4 out of 5 by NI646 from Lots of potential! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I found the Samsung Freestyle projector super easy to set up and link streaming accounts to. Using the SmartThings app on my phone was a good alternative to using the remote control supplied. The picture was clear and it was easy to use the Bixby voice control to search and play movies or shows. It was best used in a darkened room as the image is not as bright as it could be. I also have some issues with the auto focus, even if you project onto a completely flat surface the image is sometimes skewed. This is annoying as the Freestyle is touted to auto adjust onto almost any surface. The device has 180 degree range but doesn't always click-lock so you may need to support it in the lower positions. The sound is great and surprising for the size of the Freestyle. I think the Freestyle looks great, it fits snugly into the carrying case and is light and portable. However, it would have been better if there was room in the case for the remote and power cord. Overall a good projector, but with room for improvement.

Rated 4 out of 5 by nihalcastelino from Surprise in a box [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is one of those things where you do know what to expect. You have an inkling but it ends up surpassing your expectations. From its compact form factor to its room filling sound, I must say this device left me pleasantly surprised and in a good way. It's not just a projector and good looking one at that i might add. It's a portable speaker and ambient display for novelty projections as well. Is it the best projector? It is not by a long shot. It's lack of proper brightness means it is not good for rooms with bright windows and proper dark. But it's unique form factor allows you to position and tilt it to project on surfaces other projectors can only dream off. The device does great auto keystone correction so all surfaces are your friend. The sound is amazing, it's hard to believe the amount of sound crammed into such a compact form. The software is not the greatest but ha its smarts with Netflix, Disney and YouTube pre installed and the option to install a few more. The mini hdmi input is non practical as it's another cable to invest in and doesn't come in the box which should have based on how much this thing costs. My original device had issues with WiFi and random restarts, and it was replaced fairly quickly and im happy to say that most of the issues were resolved bar the random restarts which are more software than anything else. Overall a fantastic device and a decent investment especially while travelling and for kids as well whn you want them to enjoy a movie night without breaking the bank

Rated 5 out of 5 by HeftyHufton from Great Projector [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have received and unboxed my Samsung freestyle projector and on first impressions I was immediately wow'd by this projector. The packaging itself was clever and recyclable which was a great first impression. It’s fun, compact and one of the most feature-complete projectors you’ll find out there, the Samsung Freestyle is packed full of smarts. It may not be the smoothest of menus, but once there it presents a very impressive 1080p HDR image from a host of sources including WiFi and a micro HDMI port. There is direct access to all your video apps over Wi-Fi, and its Miracasting abilities make for easy connections to whatever device you'd like to play back from. Just be patient with the menu as can be a little slow to respond. Having already had a projector setup at home I was really impressed with the quality of picture and ease of setup from this tiny cylinder. It really is as simple as ‘one button’ set-up. Having the flexibility to throw a film up on your wall or in the garden, it's just the ticket. The Freestye has a very solid picture, even at 100inches and coupled with Bluetooth speaker, can be quite the cinema experience at home. One of the best portable projectors you can buy.

Once I received this I was most definitely impressed with the product. It’s design, the lightness and size how easy it is to setup and use. I would have liked the projector to have been 4k but overall it’s decent and I would definitely say to anyone looking to get a projector to think seriously about this one.

Rated 5 out of 5 by steveholland from Portable quality from Samsung [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The projector looks great straight out of the box. It has a very sleek design, lightweight, looks like a Samsung product! Very easy to set up with the same Menu as my new Samsung TV. The built in 360 speaker is very good and you also have the option to pair a Bluetooth speaker. (However, to be honest, I do not think you need to). The screen brightness is good. In a dim or dark room, the quality is great. Struggles in daylight but that is what I would expect from a projector. I dont know how well the picture shows it but we had almost a 100" display and the quality was amazing. Really impressed You can also mirror your phone which is a great option. (We mirrored both Samsung and Apple phones, I say we did it but it was my 11 year old daughter) I love the free channels provided by Samsung. (And there are loads of them) It also has a Micro HDMI channel so you can connect up external devices including games consoles!!! Conclusion: Great projector, very good picture quality, great fun and a well-made product. The only negative is the price and the need to sometimes adjust the keystone to get it perfectly square but this is only if you are off at quite an angle. Overall 9/10

Rated 1 out of 5 by Indi27 from Awful buggy product Firstly skip past all the gushing incentivised reviews and get to the real ones. This is an awful product which unfortunately doesn't live up to the usual tech media hype. Firstly the UI is SOOO laggy, it takes seconds to recognise remote control inputs, and like a phone from 15 years ago if you go too fast for it, it gives up and reboots. Needs a serious processor and RAM upgrade. Mine constantly reboots, it wasn't usable for more than an hour. They auto keystone and focus is poor and the cradle design means at certain angles the projector sags under its own weight. The sound and amount of inbuilt apps are good. Btw Samsung "experts" were hopeless they ranged from never calling back, to asking me to push buttons that didn't exist! Refunded.

Rated 4 out of 5 by madascheese from Portable pleasure [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Setup could not have been simpler with the projector having a USB C power cable, a mini-HDMI in port and a microphone on and off switch. The top of the projector, where the lens and sensors are covered with a translucent sturdy plastic cover that can also be used as a diffuser if using the projector as a light. Remember though to remove the clear plastic protection sheet that covers the lens before use! The base is well weighted and allowed the projector to be moved in an arc of 180 degrees with locking clicks every so often. Mine did not hold in place well when placed horizontally and I needed to support it to keep it in position. When the power is switched on (you can use a PD power pack as an alternative to mains power) the unit comes to life with a reassuring sound. Initial setup is very easy if you already have the Smartthings APP from Samsung but if not, it still only takes 5 minutes with the remote control. It has many of the most used apps pre-installed such as Netflix, Prime Video, BBC iPlayer, etc, with many more available in the Samsung App store. The remote is modern in design and is rechargeable via a USB C port. It is also very easy to use. To get the best from it you need a dark room as it isn’t overly bright. The auto focus and keystone work really well, and I have had the screen at 100 inches which looks fantastic. Sadly, this projector died after only a couple of hours and has had to be replaced. The replacement works perfectly and the stand is now much more positive and holds itself in any position. I hope this one lasts. The travel case that came with the projector is sturdy and can be sealed against the elements. Very impressive but it would have been better if there was also room for the remote control and power cable. Would I recommend the Samsung Freestyle Projector? Yes, but with caveats. If you are looking for a projector to do business presentations or watch films in bright rooms or during the day, then you need a much brighter (and more expensive) projector than this. If you want something to watch movies with the kids or take on holiday, then this is perfect.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Anonymous from A smart projector of the future [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Sometimes you need a product to deliver something so unexpected, so unusual and product category defining to define the future of tech. And Samsung's The Freestyle comes pretty close. From its cylindrical form factor with of a diameter akin to a 2L drinks bottle and half its height, to the sleek white finish - it looks nothing like any other projector and sets a new standard for flexible projection. This extends to automatic keystone correction meaning you can tuck The Freestyle away to one side, yet enjoy a perfect picture every time up to an impressive 100" image! Easy to set up, owners with other Samsung products will recognise the familiar interface connecting with an existing SmartThings app and accounts with ease. The wireless connectivity options are excellent with the unit controlled by a wireless controller or menu buttons on the projector itself and compatibility with HDMI (with ARC), Wi-Fi 5, Bluetooth 5.2 and AirPlay 2 with built in Amazon Alexa and Samsung Bixby voice assistants. Built in smart apps add a new dimension to this projector / smart speaker, with built in images and backgrounds providing yet further use-cases as an ambient light and tool for dynamic and creative interior design. Having tested indoors only, I'm looking forward to using outdoor nighttime projections - the unit doesn't boast the highest lumens level, with its 550 Lumens not really competing with the latest 6000-Lumen Laser DLP Smart Projectors. But it's not just about that. It's about The Freestyle's integrated 360 degree speaker, its 180 degree maneuverability, its fun and creativity and plug 'n' play approach - almost anywhere (particularly given it weighs in at less than a kilogram and can be powered via its USB-C power socket, from the mains or portable battery charger). Samsung 's The Freestyle is a product category defining with a multitude of uses from family TV nights and business presentations to fun projections and outdoor nighttime cinema. Sure to raise eyebrows and pique interest, this is a smart projector with apps, connectivity and integrations like no other.

Rated 5 out of 5 by NateRevv from Amazing portable smart cinema! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] As soon as you open the box of the Samsung Freestyle, you feel that you have your hands on something different and then when you plug it in and perform the first time setup, it just wow's you.... and that is before you watch anything on it! When I opened the box, its clear that the Freestyle is different and Samsung have crammed the bean can sized (ok its a bit bigger than a bean can) projector with a HD output, some well performing auto focus sensors and 360 degree audio. It is accompanied by a cool Alexa style remote that has direct access to voice communication, Netflix, Disney, Samsung TV Plus and Prime Video... of which I have all but the Samsung TV. When you set up the Freestyle, you connect it to an app and linking to your accounts was easy, so within 10 minutes, you can point it at a wall and watch your favourite show. I did find that sometimes, when you scale the view down to 50%, it does get a bit out of focus, but 90% of the time, its great. The quality of the picture is also great. I know its a bit of a let down there is no 4K, but its a portable bean can (ok I know...) sized projector and TBH, the HQ picture is fantastic on a wall, projector screen, or the side of your van. It is bright, but like other projectors, its better in the dark or at night for the full effect. Once connected to Wi-Fi, its just like any other smart TV with access to everything you need and I also used Bluetooth to connect it to a nice sound bar for that cinema experience. I did try to get it working from a battery pack, but was not successful, I think this was due to insufficient battery power or the wrong cables but as soon as I can get this working, its going further than any projector I have every owned before!

Rated 4 out of 5 by Solarstar81 from A great starter projector [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was pretty blown away after watching the launch of The Freestyle at CES 2022. I was keen to try out the Freestyle and see how it would fit in to my content viewing. Setting up the Freestyle was pretty easy. I used my Samsung Note 20 Ultra and set up using the SmartThings app but you can also carry on using the remote. The system does have a problem with lag, but I found this got better the longer my Freestyle was on. This is something that can be easily fixed through an update.I chose Bixby as the voice control and loved how it integrated the Freestyle with SmartThings. Commands were completed with little difficulty. I found Bixby to work better than Alexa but you have both to choose based on your own preferences. The brightness and contrast of the Freestyle could have used a little more room to work with. As it stands, the projector is set to full brightness. Most content was great to watch. I wish Samsung had increased the lumens to help with better picture quality. A higher lumen count would have also set the Freestyle further apart against other portable projectors. The sound from the 360 degree 5-watt speaker is better than I expected from such a small unit. The Freestyle does have Bluetooth so you can connect a soundbar or speaker system as well as headphones/earphones. I mirrored my phone with no problem and cast some content to my Freestyle. I used the tap feature where you just tap the side of your phone to the side of the projector. This is likely a feature on Samsung/Android phones. The auto keystone and auto focus worked the majority of the time, with a few exceptions. I use mine by pointing it to the ceiling. I particularly liked the option to adjust the keystone tilt to make it easier on the eyes. I have beams in my loft so I can only use the middle of the ceiling rather than point the Freestyle directly above. The Freestyle also has SmartThings integrated into the user interface. As I already have SmartThings products, it was great to have this feature. A dedicated button on the remote would have helped access this feature. Comparing The Freestyle with other similar portable projectors, I feel that Samsung has priced the Freestyle too high. It would be more appealing if the price was in line with other competing portable projectors. The longer I used the Freestyle, the more content I save to watch on it. It's certainly a great starter projector for me.

Rated 1 out of 5 by CityGent from Doesnt do what it should [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] What The Freestyle should sounds great and the picture quality and sound quality are both good. However, the auto picture shape and autofocus didn't work properly. They can be adjusted manually, but frankly that's a pain.

Rated 5 out of 5 by greiganderson from Taking Smart Speakers to the Next Level [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Yup the Freestyle is indeed the next generation of Smart Speakers Why? Well you simply can't compare the Freestyle to other projectors out there (despite it being very good as a projector) simply because it's so much more than just a projector. If a projector is all you're looking for then it wont match up to the competition but you will find yourself shelling out a lot more cash for those. However, if you're looking for a solid, innovative bit of kit with a plethora of uses...this is it! For the price it really is incredible. The best way to describe it is...it's a lightweight, stylish, super portable smart speaker with great sound quality and a100" high quality projector which you can watch the latest Netflix Films on built into one device...which you can even run off a power bank. On top of that you can even project cool animations for parties and that waterproof case is very slick too. The picture is clear and crisp as you'd expect of any Samsung device and the design is pretty smart too...it even comes with a little clip to stop the power cable flapping around. It's very quiet when running and it looks great in a dark room all the way up to that 100" maximum. With a projector screen that picture quality is even more crisp. I would say the controls in the menu are a bit laggy but it more than made up for this with its simple set up. You literally tilt the projector to where you want the picture (on a wall, roof or whatever) and it will position itself perfectly 96% of the time. You can tweak the kerning in the settings if need be when the surface is a bit uneven and that's easy enough to do. The initial setup did take a bit of time but you do only have to do this once. As I got used to it more I found I could even pair multiple speakers or multiple Bluetooth headsets where I wanted to enhance that movie experience or not disturb the neighbours when we had it on outdoors. Overall this is a great piece of kit that any tech enthusiast should pick up today...highly portable and perfect for an impromptu movie night or party feature wherever you may be.

Rated 3 out of 5 by Aggie76 from Stylish and Portable [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Samsung Freestyle comes well packed and you get the projector, remote, Charger and a charging cable. The carry case and the battery are add ond can be purchased separately. Price wise, the Samsung Freestyle looks premium but is expensive as it does not feature in-built battery nor an HDMi cable. Initial setup was very easy with just 3 clicks and a QR code via the SmartThings app. The app also features a remote which is handy as my remote came with no charge. Sound quality could have been better if the wattage was higher as you do not get a theater impact though the picture quality is good. The picture can be projected on a wall, ceiling as the projector can rotate 180 deg around the base mount which is very handy. Auto focus and auto keystone are great features but with auto focus, the projector sometime tries to focus as it does not get the right focus and this is annoying. Projecting on a the ceiling gives an halo light around the picture. The projector fits in perfectly in the handy carry case but this case does not provision space for the add on battery, charger and cable, remote and HDMi cable. I connected the Freestyle to my soundbar and I did feel an amazing theatre effect in a dark room with almost a 100" screen and some popcorn relaxing on my couch. Overall I like the Samsung Freestyle but I feel its happy too pricey for the sound and quality.

Rated 4 out of 5 by jordan170 from The easiest projector to recommend [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I've been looking for the right projector forever, but they were too expensive and required too much faff to make them convenient. The Freestyle is the best combination of everything I've been waiting for. It's small enough to fit anywhere and easy enough that I can take it around with me to a friend's without much hassle and have as simple an experience. I really enjoy the ability to tilt the projector up or down. I've used it for movie night pointed at a wall and watching shows while lying in bed. The only downside is that the projector can slowly start to tilt down meaning you'll sometimes find yourself adjusting it, but it's a minor trade-off for great versatility. The picture is great when blown up but will require a dark room to get the brightness at a decent viewing level. I sometimes have the Freestyle off to the side tilting towards the wall at an angle and the projector is great with readjusting automatically but the angle means the edges get blurred (that one is more user error) but it does a great job of still being watched and not noticeable to others. I found the speaker to not work great with some of my own media that was trying to play in 5.1 surround sound and became really quiet. The projector speaker setting "amplify" sorted it out pretty nicely and now I mostly have the volume at about 50% (rather than the 100% it was at before) even with the projector fan going. The built-in smart TV features make it great for being a portable little stand-alone device that I can take anywhere on its own and still have a really great experience. There is a bunch of other little features like the ability to use it as ambient lighting, have happy birthday messages on the wall or create a scenic window that is cool but felt a little gimmicky. I don't think they're features I'll ever use again. The Freestyle nailed everything that I was looking for in a really great, simple projector.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Tinkatinka2 from Great performance and design [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] To start with the projector's got a very slick design, small, very portable, you can adjust its tilt, and it's light weight, it's very easy to place anywhere. Switch it on and it's set up is very straightforward and intuitive, it calibrates itself automatically according to the angle you have it facing the wall, also has got the option to do it manually. It has got it's own speaker for sound but if your wish you can pair it with any external sound system via Bluetooth. The quality is really good, I used it on a white smooth wall and watched my TV shows with an incredible experience, I have to admit it fully met my expectations. I'm using it now every day in my room, as I have the TV in the living room. I'm planning to take the projector with me when traveling. As something to improve the way to set it up to a wall should be simpler, other than that I think it's a great product.

Rated 3 out of 5 by DEKU001 from Potentially perfect [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] After getting the device it looks and feels great, was so easy to set up and just put it on a table, tilting toward the wall and get going. Set up process was so easy and was ready to watch in no time. The auto keystone correction worked surprisingly well and is so convenient making it much easier to use the device in different rooms and situations. Sound was good. The menu system was easy and smooth to use and nice having the apps on there. Ultimately though its the picture quality that's the let down. Not even close to bright enough and colours don't look good enough even in a dark room. This makes it impossible to recommend at the price point. With better picture quality this could be a perfect device for me!

Rated 5 out of 5 by BryanT from Fantastic on the go; Even better at home! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have had a week to play with my new freestyle and I must say- I’m impressed. Style: The device is sleek and compact- it is quite weighty but much lighter than a typical projector and is by no means too heavy. The device when not in use blends into a room seamlessly and can be stored safely in the convenient and sturdy travel case. Features: So far, I have had the chance to play with Netflix, Airdrop, Samsung TV, YouTube and Disney Plus on the freestyle- all of which work perfectly. The sound quality and picture is fantastic- even on textured and off-white walls, the picture is impressive and crisp. I am lucky enough to own a projector screen and when used the Freestyle is a true showstopper. Portability was a niche but huge selling point for me- with my job, I am always on the go and often staying in hotels away from home. This week I packed this with me and tested it on the go. The travel case fits easily in a carry-on and has a handy backpack clip if you wanted to carry it separately. Although it doesn’t have space for the power cable, the travel case is light but incredibly durable and sturdy. Honestly, I didn’t notice the extra baggage with the projector- set-up was quick it was simply a case of picking a neutral wall and I was set to enjoy TV. Quality: I have only been playing with the Freestyle for a week, however from my first impressions the device is substantial and robust, without being excessively heavy. The bracket to angle the lens is solid and it seems to have been designed with careful attention to detail. Final Thoughts: I had high hopes for this device, and these have been exceeded. Compared to other projectors I have used, this is quick and easy to set up, portable, blends into its surroundings, has fantastic sound quality and can be easily packed up and used while on the go. I am excited to continue to use this device and take full advantage of the other features I haven’t used. If the travel case had space for the charging cable, this would have been flawless.

Rated 4 out of 5 by ClazW from Portable convenience [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I am really enjoying using the projector. I didn’t want a TV in the kitchen for a lot of reasons and I don’t want a TV in my daughters bedroom but there are times I need/want one in those rooms. I tend to use the projector while I’m cooking to catch up on shows and when my daughter was a bit poorly I was able to put her to bed with the ‘tv’ on the ceiling so she could watch it in bed but then take it away when needed. The only small criticism is the picture is only at its best in complete darkness which means I’d probably struggle to watch something in the kitchen in the daytime.

Rated 3 out of 5 by jasonb from Not bad, but room for improvement [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I've been testing the Freestyle for a few weeks and I've been reasonably happy with it. My household is largely run on Android (Google) TV and so the UI/UX of the Freestyle feels pretty familiar. As a projector it's average. Brightness could be better, image quality also varies. I didn't test it all the way up to the 100" picture as in my environment the projected images - mostly in daylight settings - degraded at far smaller dimensions. I found the system to suffer a fair amount of lag, input from the remote often takes a moment to catch up, and the experience was a fragmented one. Once it's in use things improve so it's perhaps just a case of warming up to input (or something). The automatic adjustment for the image is average at best, really annoying at worst. Almost every position I tried to place the unit would result in a slightly angled picture, on all surfaces, as it overcompensated for it's positioning. Eventually I stopped trying and put up with it. The preloaded apps were.. fine. I didn't particularly want to log in with a Samsung account to do more than the basics but being a Samsung product it's forgivable. The audio is reasonable, but nothing special. It's very obvious it's a small system. I tried the ambient options for completeness and again, fine but nothing special. I doubt I'd use them in future. The least thought-out product in my package is the Freestyle carry case, and that's because it *only* carries the Freestyle, leaving the power cable, the cable clip (a tiny circle of plastic guaranteed to be lost!) and remote to be inadvertently left behind. With all that said, it's still a nifty item, and in lieu of mounting a TV in various spaces it fits the bill. Turning the ceiling into a TV when laying in bed is pretty nice, and using it to cast phone media allows for more options as well. Is it worth the asking price? Not from my point of view. I'd sooner spend half the money on a simpler projector and still mostly get the same results.

Rated 5 out of 5 by SymonSays from Great little projector [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Samsung Freestyle is a great little projector. I have tried it now for a few weeks and I am actually impressed. The quality of the image is quite good, until you get very close to the wall you can see the pixels, but from the distance this is not disturbing. It is easy to setup once connected to the wifi. It is great to have apps preinstalled like Netflix, Disney+, etc. Only downside is when you use it during the day and there is a lot of light the image is not very clear, but I guess this is with most projectors. Lastly the device is very portable and I use it both in the living room and bedroom without any issues. Will definitely recommend this product!
