”No two ways about it, the Audiolab 6000CDT is a CD transport bargain – a true quality item at a price that often doesn’t buy you very much of anything.” ’Hi-Fi Choice’ – Recommended.Make the most of your CD player. View our hottest deals on hi-fi racks and interconnects.
Transport only, for your choice of DAC or digital amp
As a transport only, the Audiolab 6000CDT comes without a built-in DAC (Digital to Analogue Convertor). This not only saves you money but also gives you the freedom to choose your own DAC or partners the CD transport with a digital amp, such as the matching Audiolab 6000A.
Chose the output that’s best for you
Featuring both optical and coaxial digital outputs, the 6000CDT works with almost all DACs and digital amps.
Top quality, slot-load mechanism
Using the slot-load mechanism from the highly acclaimed 8300CD, makes this player faster to load and cleaner in style. Doing without the traditional loading tray also reduces the chance of resonance, potentially improving sound quality still further. Using a read-ahead digital buffer, it’s also more tolerant of imperfect discs that might be scratched or dirty, letting you play your most loved discs that other players won’t.
Smooth style
With its slot-loading mechanism, the 6000CDT looks pure and sleek in design. A choice of silver or black, blasted aluminium finish means that the player will fit in with a wide range of other hi-fi components.
Hear the true potential of your CDs, with the stunning Audiolab 6000CDT.

Audiolab 6000cdt
Had my player a couple of weeks now to replace my Arcam Alpha 5 which finally gave up after 25yrs.
Absolutely love the sound coming from the 6000cdt. It feels weightier at the low end and yet light at the high
Can't fault the sheffield branch. They were helpful and informative as ever.
Wellbdone Richer Sounds and thank you

Will make you want to listen to CDs again
Bought about a month ago and very impressed. I’d read the reviews but wasn’t convinced that my CDs (in storage and not played for several years) would match their ripped Flac copies.
They now do! The transport feeds a quality Linn Dac. If you’ve got a quality Dac and CDs gathering dust, then buy with confidence. This piece of kit is excellent.

Excellent product
I have had a NAD C541 CD player for quite a few years and was never very happy with the sound quality compared with vinyl. I found the sound to be rather harsh and unnatural and was not sure if there was a fault in the manufacture. It did have good reviews at the time I bought it. A couple of years ago I changed the dac in the NAD to a Cambridge Audio DacMagic100 which did improve the sound quality although I felt was still somewhat harsh. I decided to replace the NAD with the Audiolab 6000CDT CD transport connected to the Cambridge Audio dac. I was very pleased with the sound quality which was more detailed and full bodied. I was a bit concerned that the slot loading mechanism might scratch the CDs but this has not been a problem. Recommended.

Ideal to partner with the Audiolab 6000A amplifier
I bought an Audiolab 6000A amplifier about 18 months ago, to replace an ancient Cambridge Audio A4 which had developed a fault, so when my CD player also developed a fault (skipping, and it was out of warranty) I bit the bullet after reading up quite a bit on it. I was bypassing my old cd player's DAC and going into the digital input of the amp anyway, so it made sense to spend the money on a transport only. Being from the same manufacturer I guess it works well with my amp.
I like the minimalist looks and of course it matches well with the amp. I wouldn't like to make great claims for the sound quality as I have recently also upgraded my speakers, but I think it's quite an improvement on my old Marantz cd player (which I think cost about the same) and I have been enjoying the fine detail and soundstage on some classic albums which I don't think I'd appreciated before.
I have both Audiolab units connected together with a 12V AV cable, but using the single remote to control both units can be a bit counterintuitive, having to switch from amp to CD before being able to skip tracks, or back to amp to change volume (I think that's what happens...)
It's a highly rated unit and a no-brainer if you have an Audiolab amp - they work well together. Very solidly-built, like the amp.

Brilliant bit of Kit
I purchased the Audiolab 6000CDT and to be honest I wasn't sure if it would bring much difference it would bring. Boy was I surprised. I have listened to the CD's I always play to test out new kit and the sound reproduction was incredible. I honestly believe that what I was listening to was how the artists wanted their music to sound. I cannot recommend this CD transport highly enough

Good so far
Purchased recently after the Cambridge cd transport I had been thinking of shot up in price. All seems fine so far. Easy to operate and really like the function of the remote.
If I have a criticism, the sound is brighter than a previously owned Cambridge cd player

Very well made cd transport
Ive had this player three weeks now and i am very impressed. It is playing through an Arcam IR Dac. I have never been happy with any cd player i have ever had until now. Punchy tight bass, amazing high frequency treble, everything sounds like it should. We are still at the mercy of the cd production as always. When the cd has been produced well it is mind blowing, when the production is not the best it still sounds great. It is an incredible player for 400 pounds.

The Future for CD Playback
Although I have had this CD transport for a short time it does sound very good.
I am using it with my amplifiers built in DAC so therefore the sound can only improve with a better DAC. Certainly matches the sound from my CD player which costs about a thousand pounds.

Good value for my budget
I'm really pleased with this product it does everything I need I have to get a bit of kit to convert it for my audio but that was ok because I'm working on an tight budget. The product and the service has been superb and I bought a number of items which I'm also very pleased about even though they're not top-of-the-range they are very good

Great sound but how reliable will this one be.
This is actually the third one if had in two and a half years so I'm pleased I had the insurance. When it is working, it sounds fantastic and the advanced tracking means that it has never jumped once ever. Let's see how reliable this one is?

CD transport
I bought the Audiolab 6000A amp and needed a CD player. These two work perfectly together and are a significant step up from from previous CD with internal DAC. The sound is much more distinctive and separated. The only problem was I took my own speakers to RS but the sound from a potential new set was so much better that I now need to spend more money there. The guys are excellent in knowing the products and try their utmost to demonstrate the best equipment in your price range for the sound that you want to achieve.

Great piece of kit
Bought this because I still like to spin discs even though I use my naim ndx streamer and XP’s power supply , connected it up to the ndx and started playing discs , it was a bit harsh out of the box but after running it for about 24 hrs it started to settle down I’ve now been running it for around a fortnight and it sounds fantastic , my only regret is I should have bought one sooner it’s an absolute bargain at this price , I’ve connected it to my ndx with a chord shawline rca which just gets out of the way and let’s you hear the music , the service from richer sounds was first class as well and when I come to upgrade my dac I know where I will be heading

Inexpensive way to get top cd player
I bought the Audiolab 6000CDT as a way to upgrade my CD player without spending a fortune. Using it through the DAC in my Marantz PM7000N it has superb response and produces results befitting a CD player at twice the price.

Superb
I bought the 6000a amp in April 2020 and found it to be incredible. Since then, I've been saving for the 6000cdt. Having finally bought one, it hasn't disappointed.
Despite the convenience of connecting my ipod to the 6000a, the 6000cdt proves that cd is still king with my system. Every disc I play sounds sublime.
Just buy one.

Wider soundstage plus good clarity and separation.
I was interested in the current Popular Marantz all in one CD Player, but wanted something that gave more. Reading a few reviews, I found out I could just connect this CD Transport to my current Amplifier with its in-built DAC or connect to an external DAC. One review stated that connected to a £200.00 external DAC the performance out-performed an all in on £1,000.00 CD Player.
I connected the Transport via the Coaxial to my Amplifier. I loved the sound it gave, but found on new and older CD's it would occasionally skip. Reversing back through the same track and repeating, there was no skip. I gave it a few weeks, but still had the issue. I fiund online that just one person had the same issue and that it may be down to buffering issues. I contacted Richer Sounds and they did an exchange with no fuss When I connected the new unit the the same way via Coaxial, I had the same skip fault as previous. I decided I wanted to keep the unit and dug out my old external DAC which was one of the first issued in the late nineties. Brilliant, connecting this way, there are no issues with skipping at all. I am so pleased and like the sound even more as it is quite livelier and has a bit more punch too. I have decided to keep this unit as it works fine with the external DAC and sounds better than using the Coaxial Connection.

Jaw dropping sound
I bought my Audiolab 6000 CDT 10 days ago , having read a number of reviews. I already had an Arcam CDS27 which is about 5 years old and a good player(£700). The CDT walks all over the Arcam and then some. The effect on vocals is remarkable - you get a presence and clarity that gives you a sense of the space in which the vocal has been recorded - a presence that I have not heard on any other digital replay. Neither CD recording on my Innuos NAS unit nor the Tidal streaming, via Naim Nova come close(good as they are). For the money this is a veritable bargain, and teamed with the Naim inbuilt DAC produces great instrument placement...and also little details that most reproduction misses. CD collection being revisited, leaving even my high spec turntables with some downtime! Highly recommended.

audiolab transport
I had previously been using an old mega planet CD player into my very good DAC. It was showing its age and starting not to read discs properly so I bought this transport. The sound improvement was far greater than I was expecting and I am very happy with my purchase.

Fantastic, high end sound
I bought this after reading magazine articles and watching you tube reviews. I use this with a chord mojo and Sennheiser SD600’s and am astounded by the sound quality. There is excellent sound staging and the audio quality is what I would expect from a CD transport costing multiples of this one!
