With its wide range of connectivity, the Audiolab D7 is perfect for many systems. Use it to connect your CD, streamer, TV and more to your hi-fi system or powered speakers. An asynchronous USB socket makes it the ideal DAC for using between your computer and hi-fi or headphones, with the dedicated headphone amp being of a high quality design in its own right. For a premium, wireless connection to your smartphone or tablet, there’s also Bluetooth aptX HD technology.
ESS Sabre DAC for dynamic sound quality
At the heart of the D7 is a premium ESS Sabre ES9038Q2M DAC (Digital to Analogue Convertor). Renowned as one of the best DACs available, the 32-bit ESS Sabre at the centre of the D7 is a high performance device. Banishing levels of jitter and distortion to the lowest levels possible, it gives this DAC a highly dynamic sound with ultra-low background noise.
Tuned to perfection, by Audiolab
With its vast experience using ESS chips, Audiolab are able to extract the optimal performance from the circuits. Proprietary clock and power supply circuitry lifts the DAC’s performance further, which, along with a Class-A post-DAC active filter, ensures smooth and lifelike sound.
High resolution support via USB
If you make regular use of Hi-Res Audio music files, you’ll find the D7 caters for your every need. Capable of handling PCM files up to 32-bit/768kHz and DSD512 via USB, it’s capable of reproducing studio-grade sound. The D7 is also compatible with MQA recordings and is certified Roon Tested for use in a Hi-Res Audio, multi-component system.
Upsampling and five filter settings for personalised sound
For a boost in sound from lower quality recordings, you can upsample the audio data to 352.8kHz or 384kHz. While this won’t sound as good as a native recording at this standard, it can extract a more detailed and revealing sound. For further personal tuning, there are five DAC filter settings, letting you tune the sound to sharper or warmer settings.
Connect inputs via Bluetooth
For easy, wireless streaming from your smartphone or tablet, simply pair with the D7 via Bluetooth. Compatible with aptX HD, you get the potential for high quality wireless music streaming – perfect for streaming your favourite music streaming services via your phone.
Supports asynchronous USB
In addition to wireless Bluetooth connectivity, there are also twin coaxial and optical digital inputs – perfect for a CD transport, network music streamer, TV and more. These four digital inputs ensures that every system component enjoys the benefit of better sound through the DAC. For the best interface with your computer and USB media devices, the D7 also features USB-B and USB-A inputs. The asynchronous USB-B input controls your computer's audio output stage for even lower levels of jitter and the ultimate in Hi-Res Audio sound.

Extensive connectivity to connect to all types of systems
As well as all of the above input connectivity, the D7 features a wide range of outputs. For regular hi-fi systems there are RCA phonos, or studio-grade, balanced XLRs if your amp has them. The analogue outputs can be set to fixed or variable, with a dedicated volume control setting the gain – ideal when paired with active or powered speakers. For looping the digital signal onwards or digital recording systems, there are also coaxial and optical digital outputs.
